The directors in the west always like to make movies about the devil. The devil is not only about demons, satan or other same ones. It will include more, and is always a symbol about devil forces which can give people great power.
To the people who have weak ability but with huge ambition, the devil is not the death who kills people by holding the sickle but the one with the great power of faith except god. They don't care about the hell which they will lose the soul, they only enjoy about the moment of having the power, and feel about the pleasure of extreme danger which can satisfy their desire.
Many movies will talk about the story which one person is temptted by the devil in some cases. And most of the persons who have own weakness or need more strength or have hearts in the air will be controled by this power, at the same moment the devil can load his forces of evil to world of human being though this entry easily.
May be the most famous example is about Faust. When Faust started to become complainable, self-accusation and then turned to desperately world-weary, Dark Mephisto just was there to tempt Faust insidiously, bowed to Faust, will be his servants and let him enjoy all kinds of lives. At last Faust lost to the devil.
In addition, my favorite directors Polanski and Zulawski awalys made thus movies. Though they may be dark, give us many thinking about ourselves. Now I will write something about Possession.
I have watched this movie for a long time and actually I have aready forgotten many drama. But I have ever skipped to watch some plots and been struck.
This is really my faovorite movie of Adjani. If you had noticed about her acting in this movie, you will find her acting is going to an extreme and make the same agreement with me. The story seemed like this: I think Anna loved her husband sooooooo much becasue I remember one talk bewteen them, Anna said that she was so afraid that Mark would never love her any more. And the devil can choose Anna and Anna can be temptted by the devil. The entry for tempting occured from the scare which the love from Anna to her husband lead to. The power was just expected to have by Anna in that moment so that she could make use of the body of the devil with putting her husband’s face into. She wanted to create her lover by the devil and the devil could have a human face though Anna. They were both sides obtained what they wanted, and they could never worry about who would left first until Mark was created. As for Helen, she had nice face (Adjani with gold hair was so beautiful, esprescially her blue eyes). Somebody said she was the devil of Mark inside and the completion from Mark to Anna, and so did i think so. Rings out in the end and the devil came to her, may be she was the second person the devil wanted to tempt, but I can’t realize that the end was the symbol of politics, maybe I don’t understand about the background of that period.
In a word, I think they loved each other very much. It was clear when they died together in the end, and the love from Anna to Mark was more obvious, her strong possession made her possessed crazily and lose pain. How easy when she killed a man! That her heart was took by the devil, and controled by the devil.
I would also mention about the acting of Adjani in the underpass, it was so perfect to describe about hysteria and hardly wish to live. I think anyone would get over her any longer. I have ever watched about other movies of Zulawski, just like in his early times, Malgorzata Braunek had had the same acting, her hands shook and kept twitching, but all couldn’t be that real as Adjani, and it was so different about the result of heart struke. As for the acting which Sophie Marceau acted in was much lighter.
Actually I can’t understand this movie very well. Many times I want to watch this movie again, but still can’t complete watching it. I like movies about the devil, for example: , it told us everybody help the devil to tempt Rosemary and create a baby of the devil though Rosemary. Then about , I still think it is only a love story, a possessed love story.

She accepted all things in her sad life, and met a man who tried to understand her by his heart, loved her with his heart. She understood him and also responded him by her love. But she left too early, warm stayed too short time in her life.
